L4D Sprays: Make Your Own

Pretty useful guide. I was wondering where to get the VTF converter.

Nah, I'm knee deep in Hammer, dont want to bother with PS right now, but it should be easy regardless... just gonna use a gameriot spray... gotta rep the site!

It took me a while to figure out what file format is acceptable for complex images, In the end I think I got my spray (the same as my avatar here) working with .tga.

 

I think you're going at this "helping people" thing with the wrong attitude. You should be helping people out for just that reason, being kind and active participant in a community. You've done that, other than these two exceptions.

1- Putting a screenshot of a previous "successful" post and then non-subtly asking form "+likes" before you even give an introduction to what your post.
2- Begging for +s in our own comments :/

p.s. I did find the VTF converter link useful, but I don't get why you made the image 256, then shrunk it to 128, then stretched the canvas to 256. does the game only recognize and display 128x128 of the image and only accepts 256x256 file size? and if so, coulden't we just start in 128x128 then expand the canvas?

 

1- If you would of actually looked at the SS of the blog, you would notice there are literally 3 words it it. (I was getting errors when trying to post the blog for the first time and there was a mis understanding between me and Kyle, so I made a test blog, and if you look at the pic, theres 3 words and I got a lot of +likes and comments from nothing. The SS is just a joke, no epeen intented.

2- Where was I begging for +likes? Besides the comment from the SS of the test blog, that was also a joke.

and as for the P.S. L4D can only support a certain size and kb for a spray or you get errors, by shrinking the image you lower the size and kbs, and inlarging the canvas only makes the BG bigger, thus, giving you the biggest spray for being acceptable to L4D

 

ok...ive done what has been said in the steps however when using the vtf program all i see is a red square instead of my spray txt...is this normal and will it appear normally if i load it in L4D? PS sees the file normally

 

I've had it do it but only in Black but it still worked for me, you can try it and if it doesn't work try, re doing it from scratch and when you save it, a box should pop up asking if you want it "Interlaced" or none, pick Interlaced and see if that works.
