So scripting seems to be a hot topic of debate amongst the Left 4 Dead community.  I had stated it pretty much lies in the hands of the powers that be (League admins + Valve) to deem whether certain scripts are legal or not.  The most notable occurance was when the melee spam script was deemed illegal and soon after disabled by Valve.  However this time around CAL admins had this to say about their stance on scripting.

No and we never will put that command to 0, go knock yourself out and use scripts.

So there you have it folks, feel free to use any of the scripts I posted in my previous scripting article as you will be safe from any sort of punishment from CAL.

Other rule clarifications:

Question: Also i notice the fact that a hunter can pounce through the safe room crack is not mentioned either but i assume its illegal.

Reponse: Reaching map areas through the clipping of walls, floors, roofs, and/or any other normal perimeters, whether by boosting or other means, is not legal.

Question: Are you allowed to go through the vents in NM2 at the start if there is a tank.

Response: The vents on No Mercy 2 are legal so long as you are not sitting inside waiting for the tank. Camping the vents while a tank is active is NOT legal. You can use the vents as long as you're not waiting for the tank in them.

Question: More scripting banter

Response: At the end of the day, as long as the scripting is not exploitative (i.e. quick melee) then it's indistinguishable from really good players or people using keyboard macros.

My take:
Good decision by CAL as none of these scripts are game breaking and simply stream line actions that are possible to do manually but can become cumbersome.  So far CAL has been absolutely awesome about listening to the smarter voices of the community in how they've been structuring their league.  Valve also not to be left out has also down the same as you would have noticed from their last two patches, where all the updates where heavily in favor of balancing the game with the idea of competitive and fair play in mind.  Lets hope they keep this trend up, the more and more support I see valve/leagues giving to the competitive community the happier I am I left WoW seeing as blizzard generally **** all over the competitive community at every turn.

Scripting is not legal in CAL. Anytime you bind more than 1 action to a key(script), it is considered illegal. And if found, the user will be suspended. -ScottB

My quote is newer and actually a response to your thread. If you want to get banned from cal then use scripts.
