One of the few legit completed campaigns is Death Aboard (Which I will be play testing / reviewing sometime this or next week).

Just as I had suspected actually being able to play custom campaigns is a pain in the ******* ass.  Unlike with other games that use a normal server browser where if you join a game with a custom map it will simply download itself in a minute or two then you are good to play, with L4D you have to manually install the campaign to play on a server that has it (if you can actually find one).

Once you've installed your custom campaign you can try using the in game random server picker, of course we know how well that works with normal maps, and guess what it is even worse with custom campaigns.  That leaves us with openserverbrowser, where you can at least search for servers that MIGHT have your custom campaign running currently.  If you do happen to find a server with your campaign running then you have to worry about ****ty ping, custom settings (LOLOL LOW GRAVITY), and the pub stomp teams.

I'm not one of the only players having this problem as seen in this thread on the steam forums

Seriously Valve your lobby system sucks ******* dick, you need to make the server browser the main option for joining games. You can still have a lobby option for people that want to make 8 man in house games, or a looking for 4 lobby for players who want to play other groups of 4 with their friends.

Oh ya in L4D2 news, they released a new melee weapon... the cricket bat.

WHOOPDI******* DO, you'd rather make useless novelty weapons for your sequel then put some god damn polish on your first game to make your paying customers experience much less frustrating.

Don't worry this is beta, it'll be fixed in the real game.

The funny thing is, with melee weps, etc, I really don't think they WILL fix much in #2.

Now if there were campaigns other than Death Aboard to play, though it is some of the most fun I've had playing L4D.

I do like playing some mod servers though, one group I got invited to randomly has alot of 6v6, 7v7, and 8v8 servers running and you'd be suprised how fun that is.

Death Aboard isn't bad... but yeah the Custom Maps aren't going to get too far and strike the public eye. Other than the Dawn of the Dead Mall, that's been around for a long time as is. Would love to see the finished product on that.

The Community of people that don't understand the purpose of the boycott on the Second installment, they believe that Valve were going to leave the map making and mods to the community. That made me giggle a bit...

I'm horrible with the L4D SDK, but i know that it takes a long while for even a turd L4D maps to be uploaded. Valve isn't going to sharpen anything up at all. Come Crash Course Charity we'll start praying for game play updates...
