The rationale behind free markets is that they lead to the most efficient allocation of capital. Plain and simple - free market capitalism ultimately generates the highest possible wealth for a society.

That is the logical, utilitarian justification that I and many others use. There is no arguing it, its basic economic math. That isn`t to say there isn`t a great deal more depth to it, but you`re arguing about it on the most meaningless possible terms.

There are some components of Socialism though which serve to reinforce the ideas behind why you oppose it.

For an individual to succeed they need the tools to do so, and while everyone might be created equal in terms of the law you cannot discount the effect of money. An individuals future is deeply effected by the socioeconomic conditions they're born into. The student who doesn't have equal access to quality education is screwed from the get-go - this isn't the product of laziness…

You know... I'm not for Obamacare... but from my experience, I'm very satisfied with the nationalized health care we have in Canada. Despite Americans' horror stories to the contrary, it works reasonably well. It's got my Aunt through cancer six ******* times over 30 years, never left a relative of mine on the waiting list of death, and always treated me in a fair and timely manner.
